Financial Firm Linked to AFA Head Accused of Tax Evasion

The Argentine financial firm "Sur Finanzas", linked to the president of the AFA, Claudio "Chiqui" Tapia, is expected to be reported to the Justice in the coming hours for alleged evasion maneuvers over the last three years, for an amount that some sources indicate exceeds 330 million pesos. According to what the Noticias Argentina agency was able to learn, the firm - whose president is Graciela Vallejo and vice president is Maximiliano Ariel Vallejo - has been under investigation for months by the Federal Tax Administration (DGI) for maneuvers related to evading the so-called "check tax". Without prejudice to this, other judicial sources mention an investigation by the Southern Regional office of the tax control body, which attributes to Sur Finanzas having set up a network aimed at alleged money laundering, which could amount to 81.8 billion pesos. The firm was founded in 2022 in the town of Adrogué, in the district of Lomas de Zamora, and during Tapia's management at the AFA, it had a role as an advertiser, first, and as a lender to various Argentine football clubs, especially in the first division. In 2022, the company was created under the name Neblockchain S.A., but its most intense activities took shape at the end of 2023, around the management of cryptocurrencies and virtual wallets, until in August 2024 it changed its name to the current one, Sur Finanzas. Maximiliano Vallejo usually publishes on his social media networks photos next to Tapia, while Sur Finanzas managed to have the AFA's Professional League Tournament called the "Copa Sur Finanzas" in recent times. Likewise, it acted as a sponsor of the Racing de Avellaneda jersey; and placed important advertising at Tapia's club, Barracas Central, and in other teams.
